Good SUV for the Money
By Davey | on Tuesday, December 29, 2020
I now have 123,000 miles on my 2011 Enclave. Generally been reliable but had to replace the power steering rack at 110,000 miles and have had to nurse the transmission at 120,000 miles. We call the car the "beast" because of its size. The Enclave is built for cruising. We originally purchased it when our children were in middle school and needed third row seating. We expected to trade it in at four years but the car has proven versatile as an over-the-road, long distance vehicle and in shuttling things from a house in Chicago to a house in Florida. We've drive it all over the Midwest and Southeast and found it to be an outstanding long distance car. We'll keep it until it drops. Our steering repairs came well after 100,000 miles and were not inexpensive. However, we balanced the replacement cost against the cost of a replacement vehicle and elected to replace the steering rack. The transmission has been a mild concern but my Buick dealer has yet to find any discernable problem and a bottle of Lucas Oil Transmission tune-up did wonders. The biggest rap on the Enclave is it likes gasoline way, way too much. One does not expect 30+ miles per gallon from a big SUV but this vehicle consumes gasoline the way a Pontiac Grand Safari did in the early 1970s. It's like a kid at a water fountain -- see gasoline station, must stop!!!! The Enclave was the first GM car we purchased in nearly 30 years. We liked it so much we followed up with a Buick LaCrosse. I since also have purchased a 2015 BMW 528i Xdrive and a 2008 Volkswagen Eos. The Buicks hold their own against either the BMW or the Volkswagen though, admittedly, they serve different functions in our four-car household fleet.… - 5.0
I love this car.

Evertything about this car is wonderful except the gas mileage. If I could get 25 to 30 MPG, I would rate it straight 5s.… - 4.0
I Love this SUV!

The truck rides and handles with comfortable ease. The sound system hugs you with a sharp and warm sound. Large front sunroof and a large scenic window in the rear. The tv in the rear (and front while in park position) is great for family road trips. Space wise, this is a really spacious vehicle. I live in Chicago and we have some not so smooth streets, this Enclave handle the bumpy roads like a champ. I love it....…
